There are studies that have found people who write about what they were grateful for were more optimistic and generally felt better about life.  It doesn’t take much out of your day to write a few things down and become aware of what is really good about your life. What is Gratitude?

Gratitude is all about becoming aware of the good things in your life. There is always something that is going right for you. Gratitude is a way of examining the positive aspects of your life. If you’re always thinking about how much your partner annoys for something small, you may lose a connection to them as you draw away. However, when a small thing comes up, you can instead turn it around and remember something nice they did for you. Then the small annoying thing doesn’t seem so bad. 

This can apply to any part of your life. It’s a choice to look at things in a negative light or find the positive through gratefulness. No matter what is happening in your life, there is always something good happening. When you’re able to focus on the good, you can shine a light on the darkness and find happiness.

Writing Down What You’re Grateful For
When you write down what you’re grateful for, it’s more powerful than a fleeting thought. You also have the opportunity to look back at your happy moments on days where it’s difficult to find the joy. It’s not easy at first to think about what to be grateful for but it doesn’t need to be complicated. Think of your first morning cup of coffee and how good it tastes. 

That’s a small thing to be grateful for but it’s a great catalyst for your mind to open up to other positive aspects of your life. Be in the moment and think about who you are, the love that surrounds you, and what you have right now. If possible, it’s a great part of a morning routine to start the day right. Have a book designated only for your grateful, positive thoughts and make it a sacred practice.
